The first week of Second Grade!

2015 has been a year of changes, and while that's another blog for another day, one of the things that doesn't change is the beginning of the school year!

This year we have a 2nd grader and a Kindergartener and a 2yo that is in for the shock of her little lifetime that she doesn't get to go to kindergarten.

If you remember last year's 1st week of school, it was filled with multiple hives outbreaks. This year - we have survived Days 1, 2, and 3 (give or take 2 hours) with hive-free skin! This is cause for celebration.

This year at Mountain Trails, the theme is Pirates. We went school shopping for both 7yo and 5yo on Monday night and attended their open house on Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday is Daddy Day and all of the kids were excited to take 7yo to school.

We met up for breakfast before 9am at the cafeteria and when that was over, we went outside for the "first day of school performance" that all of the teachers and the principal put together. It involves music and fun and a really cool pirate ship float!

Here's a pic of the 3 landlubbers with their dad.
See all of that excitement on 7yo's face? Classic stuff.

His teacher seems pretty structured and awesome. I've heard good things about her from my neighbors. I let her know what's happening in our family and that if there are any behavioral changes with our 7yo to let us know.  While the ending of a marriage is never an easy decision, I'm happy that both of us have created the flexibility in our schedules to be involved with our kids even though we are in the process of ending our marriage. I know that their world makes sense when they see mom and dad getting along and being there with them in their important moments like the first day of school.

Here's to a fantastic year!
